Alabaster Potion
Instant-speed Stream of Life? Huh. That's -- well, I'm sure someone likes it.
Another straightforward change on this card. It's going to stay at uncommon -- X life gain seems too swingy for limited, in my opinion -- but we're getting rid of the modular because it's next-to-pointless. The only reason it's worded that way is so players can either save their duders or gain life in one card; many early cards realized that life was a different resource than toughness on creatures, but wanted to treat them the same way. There's a better way of killing those two birds with one stone.
I like this card a lot. It gives you a buffer, encourages combat -- after all, this is best if you're fogging your opponent's alpha strike or after engineering an unfavorable block -- and it feels very white. It's not very competitively costed, unfortunately; X spells need a lot of oomph to be special, and this one doesn't get there -- but it's a good political / surprise card for EDH and would probably see play in limited formats. That's still better shrift than most cards from Legends.
